S.A. Cook Automatic Chair Recliner from 1901
This chair is one of the first and most unique of it's kind. Don't get it confused with the average Morris chair which is similar. It is from 1901! It has the very unique cast iron pea pod mechanism (the larkin) for reclining. It also has a plaque that was only put on some of their chairs.
The plaque reads:
Cook & Cos Automatic Chair Patented Jan 29, 1901 July 10, 1901 S.A. Cook & Co Medina, NY Owned & Manufacturers
This chair has the original back made with horse hair that we covered with a Grey Damask. We will cover the chair and make a cushion in whatever material you prefer though.
